The Journey of IAEI Türkiye
The Historical Formation and Institutionalization of the Organization
Institutional Mandate & Global Expansion
IAEI holds an institutional mandate to establish regional leadership structures globally, building overseas chapters in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Bahrain prior to expanding to Türkiye.
Emergence of Academic Initiative
Originated from the enthusiasm of Indonesian academics and students in Türkiye regarding the need for an official platform to facilitate scholarly activities and strengthen Indonesia’s role in Islamic economics.
Consolidation of the Initiative
The initiative gained critical momentum through key events: the Islamic Economics Conference in Istanbul (28 October 2025) and subsequent informal academic gatherings (1 November 2025).
Formal Establishment
Formally established in Sakarya through a forum attended by academics and doctoral students, appointing the initial leadership for the 2026–2031 period.
Institutional Structuring
A Members' Assembly established the operational structure, forming the Executive Board and Strategic Directorates (Research, Education, International Relations, & Media).
Legalization & Official Recognition
Formally legalized in Jakarta through an official Decree issued by the Central Board of IAEI (No. 008/SK/DPP-IAEI/I/2026), ratifying the structure for 2026–2031.
Affirmation of Strategic Global Role
IAEI Türkiye is now firmly positioned as a center for the advancement of Islamic economic scholarship, a premier platform for academic and institutional collaboration, and a strategic bridge between Indonesia and Türkiye in strengthening the global Islamic economic and financial ecosystem.
